Keynote Presentations 2 & 3 (Day 1)
On 14 November 2025, the afternoon keynote session of Day 1 of ICEBTM 2025, featured Prof. Dr. Jonathan Liu from International Business School, Manchester, UK, and Prof. Dr. Maniam Kaliannan from the University of Nottingham Malaysia. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Bangladesh, and Dr. Derek Westfall from Oregon State University, USA.
Prof. Dr. Jonathan Liu opened the session with a presentation on the integration of artificial intelligence in academic research, focusing on "Enhancing Writing and Review Process with AI Tools". He demonstrated practical applications of AI to improve efficiency in academic writing and research processes, highlighting the importance of precise prompt formulation and ethical usage. He also emphasized transparency, encouraging researchers to clearly acknowledge the use of AI tools while maintaining their roles as the primary architects of their work. Prof. Dr. Liu shared valuable resources and strategies for faculty members and PhD students, including AI-assisted notetaking and research tools, and provided insights on overcoming common challenges in academic writing.
Prof. Dr. Maniam Kaliannan addressed leadership in the contemporary business environment and presented a model of human-centric leadership for the digital age. While acknowledging the growing influence of AI and automation, he stressed that critical thinking, empathy, collaboration, and empowerment remain uniquely human capabilities. Prof. Dr. Kaliannan highlighted the importance of sustainable, people-first practices, flexible workplaces, and effective human-technology collaboration. He also discussed research gaps in organizational culture, the need for skill development in SMEs, and the concept of "fungal leadership" to explore leadership effectiveness in modern contexts.
During the interactive Q&A session, Prof. Dr. Taslima Akther of Jagannath University raised questions regarding challenges in research methodology and optimal AI utilization. Prof. Dr. Liu responded by emphasizing that the key challenge lies in the ability of researchers to locate and leverage existing data effectively.
The session concluded with Prof. Dr. Daniel W. Lund, Pro-Vice Chancellor of IUB, presenting commemorative crests to the keynote speakers and certificates of appreciation to the session chairs, marking a successful and insightful afternoon of knowledge sharing.
